Meet Ro!

Background

My name is Dr. Rolando D.Z. Lyles, but most people know me as Ro… just Ro. I was born and raised in a neighborhood in Miami where simply graduating high school was a generational accomplishment.

I am the youngest of four, brought up by my Bahamian mother in circumstances where we had little family, few resources, and no safety net. She taught us that even when you lack material things, you never compromise education, integrity, hard work, or faith.

That foundation shaped the man I am today. It’s why I strive for excellence without ever looking down on anyone, because I know what it feels like to defy odds and rise despite circumstances.

Over the last 15 years, I’ve broken barriers in some of the most demanding environments imaginable. I earned my first college degree before graduating high school. I became a Posse Scholar and conquered the Ivy League, completing both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in engineering by age 23. I took on some of the world’s toughest scientific challenges and earned a PhD in Cancer Biology. I built a reputation for high performance at McKinsey & Company, one of the most prestigious consulting firms in the world.

None of it came easy. I faced setbacks, obstacles, and moments of doubt, but I prevailed. I walked out with more than titles, I walked out with resilience, perspective, and purpose.

Today, I’m committed to excelling at different titles. The ones that matter most: Coach. Mentor. Speaker. Son. Husband. Father.
